Goal Keepers Sponsored Walk
What a day for a walk down the coast road! From Sandy Bay home of Larne Youth to Carnfunnock. Goal keepers past and present took to the road to raise funds. The lads inspired road users along the route waving at every car, motor bike and bus. We took sometime to visit the Devil's Churn and stopped at Drains Bay for a well deserved ice cream. A huge thanks to all who donated, the day trippers that waved the kids along the road, and kids for participating . A special thanks to the parents and Lewis McAdam for the photos. Well done all.
25/07/18 - 2006 Squad Foyle Cup Review - From The Coaches
Our 2006 squad had their first experience of 11-a-side football at this years O'Neills Foyle Cup. The team were placed in a difficult group with Limavady Youth, Hillsborough boys and Donegal School Boys. The first two days the boys had convincing wins against both Limavady and Hillsborough and Wednesday was the penultimate game against Donegal School Boys, unfortunately for larne an excellent Donegal school boys capitalized with a rare Larne Youth mistake and got the 3points to top the group. Donegal went onto the final and the boys played numerous subsidiary competition games against Ardoyne, St Oliver Plunkett & East Donegal.
Typical match day routine was team meeting at the venue an hour before ko in the new Larne Youth apparel. The pre -match routines were more detailed, and our coaches can certainly not claim to have influenced the choice of music in the changing rooms throughout!
Throughout the week a great atmosphere was created in the dressing room and around the squad, and this showed in how every player performed and conducted themselves throughout the week.
The team were praised during the week by both opponents and officials on how professional the team were both on and off the pitch, even cleaning the changing facilities after each game.
From a development perspective, the coaching staff we're delighted with the transition from 9aside to 11aside as the team had only 7weeks preparation due to participating in the south Belfast youth league. The players commitment to preparation and during the tournament week was fantastic and there is a bright future in this squad.
Finally a big thank you to the parents for their commitment and positive support behind the team, but most importantly to the players who trained tirelessly in the build up to the tournament, played exceptional football during the week and proudly wore the shirt. Sometimes in games you don’t get what you deserve, but over the course of seasons it tends to even out. If these boys continue with the attitude and commitment they have shown over the last 2 months, there will be a few that will reach Tiernan’s first team in years to come.

25/07/18 - 2008 Squad Foyle Cup Review - From The Coaches
O'Neills Foyle Cup 2018 -
"What an experience!!"
Larne Youth 2008 U10 squad travelled to the Foyle cup for 5 days of Football.
72 Teams had entered our age group, the biggest tournament in the country with teams from all across the province plus Republic of Ireland and Scotland.
Our Coaches had set goals prior to the tournament, the main one to try and achieve a top 20 finish - but boy were we wrong. These kids excelled and with great attitudes and commitment paired with some great football they pushed the big teams all the way to finish 8th, and unlucky to lose out 1-0 in the quarter final of the main cup with a goal 2 minutes from the end!
The whole tournament was a fantastic achievement for the whole squad and surpassed the coaches’ expectations.
The planning and preparation for the team each day included eating correctly before matches, punctual arrival at the venue, team talk on arrival each day which agreed squad and player expectations, warm up routine, final instructions followed by the game itself.
Away from the pitch, the professional approach continued throughout the week with the coaches and kids agreeing a curfew each night to ensure kids got the proper rest before the next day’s games. Of course a few parents initially weren’t over the moon, however they embraced it and it re-enforced to players and parents the importance of preparation and recovery in order to be competitive on the pitch. As coaches we felt that this detailed preparation had a positive effect on our performance and our final position only reinforced this view.
All of the kids responded brilliantly to everything we as coaches asked of them and we could not have asked for anymore from any of them.
But it wasn’t all about the games, most of the kids stayed up for the whole week, so we had an itinerary to include some team bonding like junior paintball and a trip to the swimming pool, plus we had a very successful last evening at a local Chinese with over 30 people including the kids parents and coaches. These events added a bit of fun away from the main objective of the tournament.
All of the above preparations and activities contributed to a very successful week which culminated in a fantastic 8th place exceeding our target set for the tournament. We hope as coaches that the kids had fun and can only benefit from the experience which they can build on for the future as well as hopefully creating some great memories.
We, the coaches, would like to say a big thank you to the parents, not only for their support during this week but throughout the whole year as it would not be possible without them committing to their kid’s passion and enthusiasm for football. We would also like to thank the club for their support in our preparations and along with all the Larne Youth fellow coaches for the messages of support and encouragement throughout the tournament.
Lastly a massive thank you to the kids, who listened and took on board everything we asked of them, created a wonderful team spirit and togetherness as a team, work their little socks off each game and did them themselves and the club proud. We the coaches could not be more proud of their achievement.
They were absolutely Fantastic.
Enjoy your wee break kids and we go again next week.
David Murray, Ryan Mitchell and Jon Greer

In recent years the local derbies with Ballyclare were what the fans looked out for but with the addition of our near neighbours, & rivals, Carrick Rangers to the league this season there promises to be much anticipation when the sides meet in the league. Fixtures to look out for will be during the popular festive period when the Inver men can look forward to home advantage V Ballyclare on Boxing day then they travel to Carrick Rangers on Sat 29th December, with a big turnout expected for both fixtures. Much has been written & said about the quality of the squad the team have assembled on the pitch & with the continued support from owner Kenny Bruce, along with the teams, headed up by Gavin Clements (Commercial Director) & Niall Curneen (Head of Youth Development), growing behind the scenes expectations are at an all time high throughout the club, so it promises to be an exciting season. To add to the local rivals Portadown have also been busy in the transfer market so they, along with all the other teams will make the Championship the most competitive its possibly ever been so despite the obvious improvement in the squad the Inver men won't have it all their own way.

23/06/18 - 06's win the Childrens Heartbeat Trust Tournament.
Our 2006s Foyle cup preparations took a boost today with the boys winning the Childrens Heartbeat Trust tournament in Mallusk. The team only conceded one goal all day & held their nerve in the final with a penalty shootout win. Great praise was given to the boys from opposition coaches and referees on how they conducted themselves on the pitch. Big thanks to club captain Conor Devlin who was there to cheer the boys on & we would like to wish our defensive stalwart Ashton McNally a speedy recovery who, unfortunately, ended the day with a suspected broken arm.
Now the season has ended why not get the kids along to one of the parkrun events in Larne each weekend. Its a great way to keep active and something that all the family can do.
Larne Parkrun (5k) - every Saturday morning at 930am at Dixon Park, Drains Bay
Larne Junior Parkrun (2k for 4-14 year olds) - every Sunday morning at 930am at Town Park, Larne
